I spoke at AI Engineer Melbourne about “The Software Engineer Who Don’t Code”. It was a bit daunting to get on stage 😅 but it was also super energising to meet other smart and kind people who are thinking about the same problem space!
I’ve always been a fan of the AI Engineer series and have watched many of the talks on YouTube. But flying to SF just for a conference is a bit expensive, so I’ve never really been to one (maybe it’s time!). When they came to Melbourne I knew I had to go. And speakers get in free! 😉
The best part of the conference (as always) was meeting random people and chatting about random things. This always inspires me and energises me to do more. As a speaker, though, this time around I got a chance to hang out with other speakers and some sponsors at the speaker dinner. This was my highlight. Yes, the food was great, but the company was out of this world. It was amazing to hang out with so many amazing people doing amazing things. I’m now super motivated to speak at conferences, just so I get a chance to hang out with these amazing folks!
Update: I’ll be speaking at AI Engineer Sydney 2026! You can find my talk here: Define Good, Then Ship: Blind Evals for Agentic Features. See you there!
